5 Step Festive Season Survival Guide – Step Two (Intentions)

Welcome back to your next installment of the Five Step Festive Season Survival Guide!

In our first segment you learnt the importance of Mastering your calendar.

(If you haven’t read it yet I recommend you do first here.)

By now you should have a clear idea of future events coming up.

Now I want to you get a clear idea of how you are going to approach the next couple of months.

Step two awaits you…..

Step two: Set your intentions

So I wanted you to schedule your workouts & meal times in your calendar.

If you have you are off to a terrific start.

If you think you can just ‘wing it’ and squeeze in your workouts & healthy meals when you have time left over, you will find more than often that there will never be any time left!

Remember the time worn & cliche statement:

“Fail to Prepare, Prepare to Fail”

It is probably the best advice for this silly season.

Set your intentions, plan & execute.

To help you setup your intentions, ask yourself these questions:

  • How many times are you going to allow yourself to step away from your regular meals?
  • How will ensure you are prepared with healthy food on hand?
  • What will you to stay disciplined?
  • How many alcoholic beverages will you allow yourself?
  • How many times a week can you realistically commit to training?
  • Are you going to compete the same amount of sessions up you normally do or less?
  • Does your training fall on a major occasion?

If training is shorter/less frequent, why not plan in some shorter, more intense training sessions?

Try full body workouts or carrying out complementary exercises instead of resting in between sets.

For example:

  • Push/Pull
  • Chest/Back
  • Quads/Hamstrings
  • Abs/Lower back
  • Biceps/Triceps

Why not double up your next meal prep?

So you have leftovers stored in freezer for those busier times.

At the end of the day you will need to decide what is it you are going to do.

Use that calendar we talked about in Step One to make appointments!

Make sure to stick to your guns.

Do not tolerate slipping backwards.

Keep your standards up & do not settle for less.

You have the power to make the decision.

Accept success ’tis season!

Explain to your family & friends the importance of maintaining & keeping up your fitness & health.

Then put your plan into action!
