3 Tasty Diet Foods That Don’t Taste Like Cardboard

When it comes to dieting you need to understand that not any food is good or bad with the exception of trans fats.

These are foods like:

  • Anything fried
  • Biscuits
  • Cakes
  • Party pies and pastries.

They have been proven when eaten in EXCESS to clog your arteries and make you feel average.

So, the take home point from that is that once in a blue moon they are okay, but don’t make them a part of your every day diet.

Alright, now onto 3 what I call super diet foods.

NOTE: When I talk about dieting I’m referring to a period when your calories are in a deficit.


Stupid restrictive detox style affairs.

Dumb celebrity endorsed crap

Pills, potions and magic shakes

Or diets where you exclude whole food groups.

I’m talking about where your calories are lowered so that you can achieve a desired fat loss effect.

So with that in mind here are 3 foods that I use religiously while dieting.

  1. Pumpkin.

Pumpkin is awesome for a few reasons.

Firstly, a 100g serving has 1/3 of the calories of potato and sweet potato.

Per 100g there is only 7g of carbs which is absolutely awesome because it tastes amazing.

This is very beneficial when calories get low because it means that you can eat a lot of it.

Also – extra bonus, it has a bucket load of potassium which is a necessary electrolyte and it also contains tryptophan which is a precursor to the neurotransmitter serotonin (this makes us feel good)

SUPER BONUS – it’s cheap. It’s like $2.00/kg.

So all in all, pumpkin is an awesome food when dieting.


2. Kangaroo steaks / mince.

The reason I like kangaroo is because it is super lean.

It’s much lower in fat than beef mince and tastes very very similar.

(When cooked correctly!)

Per 100g of Kangaroo mince there is only 2g of fat, which is much less compared to regular beef mince which has anywhere between 10-20g per 100g serve.

The reason that it is advantageous when dieting is that you can use the fats you would normally be consuming from steak or beef mince and eat them in other food sources that you enjoy.

Things like avocado, cheese or eggs are what I get my guys and girls to eat along side their kangaroo.

This achieves my goal of them getting their protein intake in

And also allows them to eat the foods that they enjoy which normally would be cut out!

Win for me, win for my clients

So yeah, Kangaroo is an awesome dieting food.

3. Skinny Cow Ice Creams

These things are absolutely great when dieting.

And yes, I know they go against what your conventional guru will tell you about dieting, however I’ve eaten these most days and lost over 8kgs in the last 6 months and so have many members of The Body Consultants.

I like these for two reasons:

1.They’re portion controlled.

They come individually wrapped so that you know exactly how much a serve is.

I find this works better for people than a whole tub.

Because let’s face it, two spoons turns into 3 cause an extra one won’t hurt


Whole tub is gone.

Yes, we’ve all been there, me included.. 

In terms of the energy, each skinny cow is about 100 calories.

Which is going to be about 5ish percent of your total energy intake

(Obviously depending on your plan)

One of the biggest issues I get from people when they’re dieting is that their food is bland and boring.

I can agree to an extent.

But not when you’ve got skinny cows in the mix

These things are like eating clouds.

They’re so soft and tasty they just melt in your mouth.

So yeah they’re great
